Purpose of the Privacy Policy

This policy of the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency (“NCIDA”) is intended to inform as to the information collected about a visitor during a visit to its website, how that information is then stored and may be used; and under what circumstances that information might be shared with another party.

I. Information that Nassau County Industrial Development Agency May Collect and How It May be Used

The following information may be collected during a visit to the NCIDA website:

  • Your Internet Protocol (IP) address, and the domain name used; and
  • The type of browser and operating system used; and
  • The date and time the NCIDA website was visited; and
  • The web pages or services accessed at the NCIDA website; and
  • The website visited immediately prior to visit to the NCIDA website.

This information is used to improve content on the NCIDA website, and to help understand how people use NCIDA services. Additionally, it is also used to facilitate efforts to route Web traffic, and the tracking of viruses and defense against attacks to the website. The NCIDA website logs do not identify any visitor personally, and the NCIDA makes no attempt to link them with the individuals that browse its website.

If during your visit to the NCIDA website you participate in a survey, complete a business intake form or send an email, the following additional information may be collected:

  • Any information you volunteered in response to a survey; and
  • First name, last name, email address, phone number, company name and any additional information voluntarily provided during completion of an intake form; and
  • The address and contents of any email sent by a visitor from the website.

The information collected may not be limited to text characters, but will also include any audio, video, and graphic information formats the visitor submits.

The NCIDA may use email information to respond to a visitor’s message, to assist in obtaining requested information, to address identified issues, to further improve the NCIDA website visitor experience, or to forward the visitor’s email to another agency for appropriate action. Business Intake Form information will permit follow-up discussion. Survey information will be used for the purpose designated.

II. Personal Information and Choice

"Personal information" is information about an individual that is readily identifiable to that specific individual. Personal information includes personal identifiers, such as an individual's name, address, business address, e-mail address and phone number.

The NCIDA will not collect personal information, unless the visitor participated in an activity that requests information (i.e., sent an e-mail, completed a business intake form, or participated in a survey). Failure to participate in these activities will in no way affect the use of any other features of the NCIDA's website.

If the NCIDA is provided personal information, by the sending of an e-mail to the NCIDA staff or by the completion and submittal of an online form, the NCIDA will treat the email and submitted information consistent with the treatment of written correspondence received by the NCIDA.

The collection of personal information submitted by a minor may be treated the same as information provided by an adult.

III. Public Disclosure

The NCIDA strives to protect personally identifiable information, by collecting only such information as is reasonably necessary to deliver services. It should be understood that all information collected at the NCIDA website constitutes public record that may be subject to inspection and copying by the public, unless an exemption in law exists. For instance, if personal information is requested or volunteered, NCIDA policy, the New York State Freedom Of Information Law, and/or applicable Federal law may protect it from disclosure. Unless confidentiality is specifically authorized by law, however, no privilege or protection from disclosure may exist.

In the event of a conflict between this Privacy Policy and any applicable law governing disclosure, the governing law shall control.

IV. Access to and Correction of Personal Information

In a writing delivered by certified mail, you may request your review of your personal information collect at the NCIDA website, if any. All requests, including any request to correct any inaccurate information, may be submitted to the NCIDA at 1 West Street, 4th Floor, Mineola, NY 11501.

V. Cookies

Should your browser be set to allow cookies, the NCIDA's website may send cookies that will be placed on your machine.

Why are Cookies Used on the NCIDA Websites?

The NCIDA uses cookies and other tracking technologies to improve the website browsing experience, to analyze website traffic, and to understand from where website visitors originate. By browsing the NCIDA website, a visitor consents to the use of cookies and other tracking technologies.

VI. Security

While the NCIDA has taken steps to safeguard the integrity of its telecommunications and computing infrastructure, it does not guarantee the absolute security of maintained information.

VII. Disclaimer

This NCIDA website may contain hypertext links to external websites and pages containing information created and maintained by public and private organizations other than the NCIDA. These may include links to websites operated by other government agencies, nonprofit organizations or by private entities. When a visitor links to another site, the visitor is no longer visiting the NCIDA website, and the NCIDA Privacy Policy will therefore no longer apply. Instead, when linking to another website, the visitor is subject to the privacy policy of that website.

The NCIDA's website is designed to provide site selectors, businesses, visitors and residents access to the NCIDA’s services and public documents, including, but not limited to, information about public hearings and public board meetings, public documents as per the New York State Authorities Budget Office, Nassau County data, and links to helpful Nassau County partners. The website also provides businesses, residents, and visitors links to pertinent visitor-related information about the area. As such, from time-to-time, the NCIDA may wish to provide links to other sites that provide local, state, or federal government information, additional information about the community, including data, events and local news, or other information supporting the agency's mission and services.
