Joseph Manzella

Board Member

In July of 2010, Joseph joined the New York City Police Department. His career began in the 103rd Precinct, located in South Jamaica Queens. Over the years, he received many departmental recognitions for making sound decisions and using good judgement in life-threatening situations and emergencies. This experience allowed him to become a great problem solver and gave him the opportunity to work alongside a variety of people to help them find solutions.  


In November of 2018, he was transferred to the Detective Bureau and was promoted to the rank of Detective in May of 2020. As such, he served as a Detective in the 113 Precinct Detective Squad, located in South Jamaica Queens. Through the years as a Detective, he was involved in numerous investigations, spanning a wide variety of crimes, such as larcenies, assaults, shootings, robberies, burglaries, and homicides.  


In August of 2022, Joseph was awarded the True American Hero Award from the United States Federal Drug Agents Foundation for solving a Triple Homicide. Joseph retired from the New York City Police Department in March of 2023, at the rank of Detective. 


After retirement, he became a Business Representative for the Eastern States Joint Board AFL-CIO, a Labor Union Organization. Eastern States Joint Board consists of six local unions, with a membership of approximately 15,000 members nationwide. In his labor career, he has fostered business connections with many and has learned about the relationships between the workers and their employers.  As a representative, he is consistently working alongside businesses, remaining impartial, and looking for ways for a business to stay competitive and retain employees. Joseph is a proud donor to several organizations, including Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Team Blue Line, and America’s Vet Dogs, among others.
